All vehicles on the MT Section are assigned to a Company and carry that company's logo, my lorry was assigned to S Coy Mortar Platoon, so if S Coy Mortar Platoon went on exercise, I and my lorry went with them, for a short time
I was driver for “Lt Ross” Mortar Platoon Officer, before I got onto the 3 Tonne’s.
Exercises I have been on with the Mortar Platoon while in Germany are numerous small ones in the Grunewald Forest in Berlin, then there were the big exercises in West Germany, Sennalager, Saltu, Putlos on the Baltic coast, Putlos was a live firing exercise for the Mortar Platoon,we were barracked up in German army accommodation it was a change from roughing it out in the open as on the other exercise's.
